We were hoping to resume real-life rehearsals on 18 May. We were gearing up for a return to St Matthew's Church - when the government "clarified" its advice to amateur choirs, namely that they were not allowed to meet in groups of more than six indoors (or 30 outdoors, for that matter). We were dealt a further blow when lockdown was extended into July. Undeterred, we continued our remote rehearsals, including the magnificent Bach Mass in B Minor, together with the several new pieces: the Misa Criolla, a hauntingly beautiful mass that uses Latin American and Creole rhythms; and a wonderful setting of poems by the Spanish genius Federico Lorca. The current season is now over and we are hoping to resume full indoor rehearsals in September and to perform a revived programme of concerts, starting in November and with an exciting Christmas offering. Please see our Concerts page for our plans for 2021 and 2022.
